It's been soooo long!

My time flies when your busy! New Goals - Keep blogging or you'll get a flogging argh !

Alot has been happening since I last posted, like moving to a different state. I love my new home it is nice and spacious, I even have a studio Fiber Playhouse. So I have been going batty making batts, cleaning and picking and carding fleeces. Dyeing and spinning and designing patterns.

Went to Maine in February for SPA weekend and had so many laughs and eyes filled with eye candy, hands busy feeling yummy fiber, and of course meeting old and new friends, what more could you ask for!

Bummer hubby got laid off but on the upside it got me motived to keep focus on my Fiber Playhouse business, so there are patterns to make up and sell, fiber to sell, orifice hooks, or if you need your fleece cleaned and carded into batts I am here! Just contact me : )

Also I will be teaching needle tatting in Maine at the Fiber College so that is exciting. Hope to see you there!

February is Here!

It

has

been

a

long

winter

and I must have been hibernating from my blog...yikes!

Now I am in the middle of moving after over 30years, so it is going to take a long time for sorting through things.. memories...okay...look at it ..take a picture for a memory..right! I am looking forward to the move, as we will have a lovely view of the lake, a wrap around porch, and I will have a big studio..Yeah! I love ravelry as I have already made contact with people who love fiber as much as I do.. This weekend is NETA SPA , what a great break from the moving.lol. I have designed a hat and scarf pattern called "To be or not to be", knit with a yummy yarn from Dye Dreams (50% alpaca, 30% merino, and 20% silk) Check out their website. It was a nice surprise to see it is reversible. Also I have been knitting really cool bracelets. Well have to go pack for my great long weekend!

SLATER MILL EVENT

This event was wonderful, the room they held it in was a fiber artist dream with all the looms, wheel, tables, wooden floors ...aww the space!
I enjoyed meeting new people and letting them take a spin at my wheel : ) for those who tried spinning , all I can say is, keep at it, you have great potential. It lifts my spirit to know that the art of spinning, knitting, crocheting, weaving, basketry, are still being pursued. Hey guys! It was great to see all of you involved too! Thank you Ruth for putting this event together and making everyone feel welcome, that goes for you too Janice, and thanks to all who helped me lug in my wheels and stuff! Isn't Ravelry great, where else can you network and find out about awesome events and meeting great people!
Unfortunately, I was so busy with showing delightful future spinners how to spin that I didn't get any pictures, so if there is anyone out there that has some pictures to send me , I would greatly appreciate it.. I need to get more disciplined in taking pictures for my blog...duhh! Any way, if you haven't been to Slater Mill, check it out, it is a wonderful museum , with a delightful gift shop, and offers awesome classes!

Next, this coming weekend I am looking forward in attending my first weaving guild meeting...can't wait! and of course the following weekend RHINEBECK !!! whoohoo!

RAVELYMPICS 2008

HOORAY! I made it to the finish line. I completed the scarf relay it took me 6 days, needles clicking away, spinning wheel whirling as I plied a couple of yarns, wrapping yarns around the pegs for fringe, sewing sides together, crotcheting borders. Boy am I glad I worked out before I started. There were some minor set backs, such as the chart was wrong, hubby had to reprogram it so it read right... after I knitted half the rows...lol.

So here is the finished product tadah.

I also entered the ITSYBITSY BREAST STROKE with teamfreeformations. As you can see the theme was Cricket. The top had to be white, so I was thinking of a cricket cap as my inspiration. Mind you I know nothing about Cricket, being from the U.S. My hubby is from England so he could fill me in about the sport.

It took me 7 days, I know I could have put a little more effort in this project but as you can tell the scarf took most of my concentration. I had a set back on that one too, as my crotchet hook broke, luckily we stopped at the mall on our way to a cookout and I ran into Joann's and bought a few metal crotchet hooks lol!
